India’s shooting star Avani Lekhara bags gold at the Chateauroux Para Shooting World Cup with a world record score of 250.6 in women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 on Tuesday. The Tokyo Paralympics champion has now secured a spot at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

The 20-year-old smashed her own world record of 249.6 and secured a spot for the Paris Paralympics 2024. Poland’s Emilia Babska bagged the silver medal with a total of 247.6, and Anna Normann of Sweden settled with bronze with a total of 225.6.
Sriharsha Devaraddi also won gold in R4 in mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 with 253.1 points and earned a quota for the 2024 Paris Paralympics. PM Modi congratulated para shooters Avani Lekhara and Sriharsha Devaraddi on winning gold at Chateauroux Para Shooting World Cup.

This year, double Paralympic medallist Singhraj Adhana and six other Indian para shooters failed to travel to Chateauroux, France for the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup as they were denied visas.
