After facing a prolonged delay, the Pakistan football team has finally obtained visas to participate in the upcoming 2023 SAFF Championship, scheduled to take place at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium, India.
Reports indicate that all 32 members of the Pakistani team, who had been stranded in Mauritius without clarity on their participation, have received the necessary visas on Monday.
In an official meeting at the Indian High Commission in Port Louis, Mauritius, representatives from the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) were handed the visas earlier today.
The 2023 SAFF Championship is set to commence on Wednesday with an opening match between Kuwait and Nepal. The highly anticipated India versus Pakistan encounter will follow later in the evening, once the first match concludes.
Despite Pakistan’s FIFA world ranking of 195, with India ranked 101, expectations are that the Indian team, following their recent triumph against Lebanon in the Intercontinental Cup, will break into the top 100 and reach the 98th position.
