Outgoing Puma India Executives, Abhishek Ganguly & Others Launch Agilitas Sports, Raises ₹430 crore

Abhishek Ganguly, the outgoing managing director of Puma India and South East Asia, along with Atul Bajaj and Amit Prabhu, has announced the launch of their new venture called Agilitas Sports. The platform aims to offer sportswear and athleisure solutions across the value chain of sports clothing and footwear in India. Additionally, the company has successfully raised funds of ₹430 crore.

An investment management & advisory firm- Convergent Finance LLP, headed by Harsha Raghavan, has provided guidance to multiple funds that have invested a total of ₹400 crore in Agilitas Sports. The sports platform has also received around ₹30 crore in funding from individual investors.

The founders of Agilitas Sports include Abhishek Ganguly, who will be leaving his position as the managing director of Puma India in August, along with Atul Bajaj, the executive director of sales and operations at Puma India, and Amit Prabhu, the chief financial officer, who will also be leaving their roles.

Ganguly, founder, Agilitas Sports, stated,

“Agilitas Sports aims to disrupt and redefine the sportswear industry by seamlessly integrating innovation and technology across the product value chain from the factory floor to the retail shelf. With a hyper-focus on customer experience and customer-centricity, we endeavor to build meaningful communities in the Indian sports and sportswear space and be a catalyst towards a fit and athletic India,”

Harsha Raghavan, Managing Partner, Convergent Finance LLP said,

Convergent will work with Agilitas in the areas of operations, capital allocation, and long-term business strategy

Certainly, the sportswear and footwear sector in the country has witnessed significant growth in recent years as consumers prioritize fitness and engage in various sports, not limited to cricket. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a surge in demand for comfortable clothing and sneakers, replacing formal and occasion wear. Ganguly predicts that the sportswear market will expand fourfold by 2030.
