Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi, 38, would be the oldest player in the Asia Cup in 2023. Nabi stood down as Afghanistan captain following the loss in the T20 World Cup 2022; however, he has continued to play in international cricket in white-ball forms. He has 3088 runs in 146 ODIs, with one century, 15 fifties, and 154 wickets. Nabi will be hoping to help Afghanistan overcome Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group B and advance to the Super Fours phase, where they will compete for the Asia Cup title.

Shakib Al Hasan, 36, will captain Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023 after Tamim Iqbal stepped down. So far, he has appeared in 272 ODI matches, scoring 7248 runs with 53 fifties and taking 307 wickets with the ball. Hasan is largely regarded as Bangladesh’s finest cricketer, and he aspires to lead the Tigers to the Asia Cup trophy this year after losing in the finals three times. The wicketkeeper-batsman has appeared in 253 One-Day Internationals, amassing 7295 runs with nine hundreds at an average of 37.03. He has also played 86 Tests and 102 Twenty20 Internationals for Bangladesh and, together with Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, is one of the few players who made their debut in 2007 & still play for the Tigers.
