To promote the growth of sports and fitness, with a particular emphasis on Table Tennis, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Odisha Table Tennis Academy in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. Simultaneously, he officially launched the 29th State Table Tennis Championship for the year 2023. The academy boasts a spacious facility equipped with 16 Table Tennis tables, a fitness gym, a weightlifting area, and even a designated space for chess. Additionally, there are designated areas for yoga and zumba enthusiasts, as reported by officials. The academy is envisioned as a platform for nurturing a new generation of table tennis players from the state.

He additionally revealed plans for the establishment of 33 table tennis facilities throughout the state, with the aim of making them operational by the following month. Each of these facilities is set to feature three table tennis tables, with the exception of the one located in Cuttack, which will boast 16 tables. Patnaik praised the Odisha State Table Tennis Association for their substantial efforts in promoting the sport and pledged full support to nurture players capable of representing India.
