  • "The learnings from today will make us stronger and better; there will be a new dawn." PM Narendra Modi said while addressing the ISRO scientist.
  • Indian athletes congratulated the ISRO team for their efforts while others expressed hope of landing successfully in future.

The ’15 minutes of terror’ for Indian Space Research Organisation unfortunately turned true as the the ISRO team lost communication with lander Vikram just 2.1 km away from a soft landing on the moon surface.

The mission was always going to be difficult, since this was the first time a country was attempting to land a rover on the southern pole of the Moon. Also, this was India’s first mission involving a lander.

The main objectives of the rover Pragyan were to map the location as well as the abundance of lunar water.

While addressing Isro scientists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The learnings from today will make us stronger and better; there will be a new dawn. The best is yet to come in our space programme; India is with you. Countless people have got access to a better life due to the hard work of our space scientists. Our determination to touch moon has become even stronger, we came very close but we need to cover more ground.”

“As important as the final result is the journey & the effort. I can proudly say that the effort was worth it & so was the journey. Our team worked hard, travelled far & those teachings will always remain with us. The learnings from today will make us stronger and better” he added.

Saluting the spirit of ISRO scientists, Modi said, “Resilience & tenacity are central to India’s ethos. In our glorious history, we have faced moments that may have slowed us but they have never crushed our spirit. We have bounced back again & gone on to do spectacular things. This is why our civilisation stands tall.”
