One run. One run was all it took for Mumbai Indians to defeat Chennai Super Kings and become the first team to be crowned the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the fourth time. Of course, when two of the biggest teams compete against each other, winning margins are bound to be thin. But the game between the three-time champions on Sunday took this particular thesis to a whole new level!-- Advertisement --

The nail-biting finale at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad also marked a record 31 last-over finishes this year. Thus, the culmination of the league with a last-ball decider was a fitting end to yet another thrilling campaign.
There were many records set and many broken on Sunday. Apart from the fact that Mumbai was crowned champions for the record fourth time, Rohit Sharma also became the first player to have won the IPL on five occasions (1 with Deccan Chargers, 4 with Mumbai Indians), making him the most decorated player in the IPL at the moment.
Moreover, he has won all the IPL finals he has featured in, another record to be jealous of!
The IPL 2019 final was reminiscent of its 2017 counterpart, where Mumbai Indians had pipped Rising Pune SuperGiants by one run as well. Coincidentally, like on Sunday, MS Dhoni was the captain back then as well.
Talking about coincidences, Mumbai Indians have won a title every two years starting from 2013 all the way to 2015, 2017, and 2019. CSK featured in three of those four finals.
Nonetheless, the engaging finale of the Indian Premier League 2019 season drew some of the best reactions from the fans as well. Here are a few picks of the lot:

Malinga speeds (in KPH) in that final IPL over:
142, 143, 142, 141, 140, 112.
The courage to deliver that slower ball with a tournament on the line. Incredible.

What a final! Well played #MumbaiIndians. No other final has gone down to the wire like this. It's still a bit of a mystery how this match turned out. Losing 4 times to the same team is enough proof of submission. #CSKvMI #IPL
