The Wankhede Stadium will not host a fireworks display on November 2. In an effort to address pollution concerns, there will be no aerial explosions during or after the Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Sri Lanka in Mumbai. BCCI’s honorary secretary, Jay Shah, officially announced this decision on Wednesday. The BCCI is committed to addressing environmental issues, and Jay Shah raised this matter with the ICC. Consequently, it was collectively decided that there will be no fireworks show in Mumbai to avoid contributing to pollution levels. BCCI’s Statement on Fireworks ahead of Diwali sounds interesting.

Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI stated:

“BCCI is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the ICC and there won’t be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interest of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront.”
