Indian athletes have had a wonderful 2019.
Some of the proudest moments of the year were the Men in Blue’s triumph in Australia, Deepak Punia’s Gold at Junior World Wrestling Championships, PV Sindhu’s world dominance, Sumit Nagal‘s special set against Rodger Federer, ‘Dhing Express’ Hima Das‘ 5 golds in June, Dutee Chand‘s 100-meter dash at the World Universiade, dominance of Indian shooters, Pankaj Advani’s Hattrick of Hattricks and the rising Table Tennis rankings.
There were also a few letdowns as well. The disappointing semi-final knockout at the World Cup, the unnecessary faceoff between Mary Kom and Nikhat Zareen caused unintentionally by the BFI, the Koffee with Karan controversy, the I-League‘s doom and shooting’s exclusion from CWG 2022.
Regardless of all that, the who’s who of Indian sports fraternity celebrated their achievements after the tiring year with the hope of an even successful new year.
From Virat Kohli to Neeraj Chopra, let’s have a look at how Indian Athletes reacted to the start of a new year and a new decade.
