Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra announced his withdrawal from the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games (FBK Games), scheduled to take place in Hengelo, the Netherlands, on June 4 due to a muscle strain. Neeraj Chopra took to social media to reveal that he suffered a muscle strain during training, forcing him to sideline himself from the event.

He wrote on Twitter,

“Injuries are part of the journey, but it’s never easy. Recently, I sustained a muscle strain during my training. Following a medical evaluation, me and my team have decided to avoid any risks which can aggravate the injury. Unfortunately, it means that I have to withdraw from the FBK Games, in Hengelo. Wishing the organisers and the tournament all the success. I am on the road to recovery, and will aim to be back on the track in June. Thank you for all your support.”

Although specific details regarding his participation is unclear, Chopra has a scheduled appearance in the Paavo Nurmi Games, set to take place in Turku, Finland, on June 13.

Recently, authorities announced the approval of his training proposal in Finland, allowing him to participate in multiple World Athletics – Gold Level events scheduled for June.The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has provided financial assistance to cover his travel expenses, camp expenses, accommodation, medical insurance, and out-of-pocket allowance.

Recently, Neeraj Chopra also achieved the world number one ranking in men’s javelin throw, showcasing his exceptional talent. In his season-opening event at the prestigious Diamond League series in Doha on May 5, the 25-year-old secured a gold medal with a world-leading effort of 88.67m.
