The NBA India Games 2019 is scheduled to take place on Friday, Oct 4 and Saturday, Oct 5 at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced today that the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings will be playing in two preseason games in Mumbai in October next year. This marks the first such games the NBA has played in India and also the first games staged in the country by an American sports league.
The NBA India Games 2019 will be held on 4th and 5th October at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai. This is a sign of a new dawn in the basketball’s story in Indian.
The big announcement was made jointly by NBA’s Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum and NBA India Managing Director Yannick Colaco in Mumbai.
“We are thrilled to be one of the first two teams to play the first-ever game in India and proud to be part of the expanding NBA worldwide footprint of our game of basketball,” said Pacers owner Herbert Simon.
“Our inaugural NBA India Games will help further untap the enormous basketball potential in a country with a thriving sports culture and a growing, young and engaged population,” added NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “We thank the Kings and Pacers organizations for participating in this historic event.”

Apart from the games, the league and its partners will also conduct interactive fan activities for the fans such as Jr. NBA youth basketball programming and NBA Cares community outreach events that will bring pure NBA experience to the Indian fans.
The NBA India Games 2019 will be produced in association with BookMyShow and would be supported by a number of marketing and merchandising partners.
The games would also be aired live in India and could be followed by fans in over 200 countries and territories through television, digital and social media.
Over 35 current and former NBA and WNBA players have visited India from as early as 2006 on behalf of the NBA. The alliance marked a new high in 2011 when NBA opened it first office in the country in Mumbai.
In 2017, the NBA also launched an elite basketball training centre, the NBA Academy India, in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) so as to groom country’s top male and female basketball prospects.
