The motivational story of Ravi Kumar wrestler
The rising star of wrestling, Ravi Kumar Dahiya won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics and made the nation proud. He hails from Nahri village situated in Sonipat district of Haryana, which is the hub of wrestling in India. He belongs to a proletarian family and due to the economic crisis in the family, he could not start his training at a young age. His shortcomings could not stop him from pursuing his ambitions of becoming a professional wrestler. At the age of 23, he achieved his goals through his consistent hard work and unparalleled determination for the sport. The sport of wrestling is not limited to the rural areas instead it has spurred its roots to the Professional level.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya Achievements
His first prime achievement was in the Junior World Championship 2015. He was contesting in the 55 kg freestyle event at Salvador de Bahia. He clinched the silver medal. In 2017, he got a severe knee injury. But after a year, he made his return by winning another silver medal in the U-23 World Wrestling Championship. He became the only Indian to win a medal in the 57 kg category in the history of the tournament. After the Asian Wrestling Championship of 2019, he rose to No.5 in the world rankings.
In the same year, the 22-year-old Ravi Kumar made his World Championship debut. On his way to the semifinals, he defeated some of the notable names in World wrestling and ensured the Tokyo 2020 Olympic berth. He grabbed the opportunity and won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Ravi is the real hero of Indian wrestling as he is the second wrestler to win an Olympic silver medal after the great Sushil Kumar. He was awarded cash rewards by the government of India, BCCI and several other institutions.
