Ahmedabad’s iconic Narendra Modi Stadium will reportedly host the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup final, and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host one of the semi-finals. The BCCI will host 48 World Cup games at 12 different venues, likely to get four matches each.
The ICC is yet to announce the official schedule of the next ODI World Cup in October-November. However, it has been announced that the event will be held between October 5 and November 19 of this year across various venues.
The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium has a seating capacity of over 100,000 people. It is the ideal venue to host the final of the prestigious event. The same venue is also hosting the opening match of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2023.
Meanwhile, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai hosted the 2011 ODI World Cup final. The latest report suggests that the venue will likely host one of the semi-final matches in the next World Cup. However, the same report also suggests that the extraordinary India-Pakistan match will be either hosted in Chennai or Delhi.
Before the ICC event, Team India and Pakistan are scheduled to clash in Asia Cup. Pakistan is to host the continental tournament. However, the BCCI has already confirmed that the Men in Blue won’t travel to Pakistan, and they will play their matches at a neutral venue.
