- The company has been accused of defrauding young cricketers.
- MSG had announced a fully-paid scholarship to foreign academies.
- But the promises made weren't fulfilled, resulting in the charge.
Magpie Sports Group (MSG), who has been involved in managing cricket events, has been charged with conducting fraudulent activities.
The event company has been accused of defrauding young cricketers under the pretext of sending them to foreign academies. As a result, a case has been filed in Noida against Manish Kumar Chaudhary, under whose name the company is registered, along with associates Ajay Singh and Sandeep. The police had arrested Sandeep at the time of writing.
MSG had allegedly conducted a national talent hunt competition late last year for scouting young cricketers and sending the selected players to the cricket academies abroad. The preliminary event was conducted across major cities in the country while the final was held at the Noida Stadium.
Cricketers selected there were promised to be awarded a full-paid scholarship for a month’s tour at one of the academies in England, South Africa, and New Zealand.
Furthermore, it was allegedly promised that the players would get a chance to meet veteran players like Mohammad Azharuddin, Gautam Gambhir and many foreign players there.
However, on the day of the event, it came to light that none of them were present at the final. Besides, the players were not given any facility even after depositing ₹ 7,000.
As a result, the players duly registered a complaint against the Magpie Sports Group in Noida.
It has been revealed that the company duped over 350 cricketers under the pretext of providing paid scholarship. It has been reported that the accused may have collected over ₹ 60 lakhs in the process.
Speaking about the case, Noida CO Piyush Kumar told that a case has been registered against Manish Chaudhary, Ajay Singh and Sandeep of the Magpie Sports Group for not making arrangements as per the claim.
We would, thus, like to caution our readers and the country’s budding athletes to not fall for such big and sugar-coated promises.-- Advertisement --
