Family Background
Mohit Chhillar started playing kabaddi right from when he was a kid. He played for School Games Federation of India. Though his father is also a former kabaddi player himself, it was his uncle who introduced him to kabaddi who was an international-level player himself. There were no training facilities in his hometown, hence, Mohit took guidance from his seniors.
Mohit missed out on Delhi state team selections, but he was selected by the Rajasthan team. “They had a full squad anyway and there was a lot of competition. But Navneet Gautam knew about me and asked me to play for Rajasthan,” he recalled in an interview with the Indian Express.

He received recognition there and started making his mark in the field of kabaddi. His stellar performances in the Pro Kabaddi League earned him a spot in the Indian team. And what a start it was!
Journey
Mohit’s career with the National team couldn’t have started on a better note. He was a part of the Asian Games 2016 gold medal-winning team. The very same year, the team won the Kabaddi World Cup, too. It was indeed a special moment for Mohit.

Mohit Chhillar & Pro-Kabaddi League
Mohit played for U Mumba in the Pro Kabaddi League for three years. Later Bengaluru Bulls signed him for a record 53 lakh rupees.
“I feel very happy. I did not expect to get this much as I thought I would go from between 35 and 40 lakh. I take special leave without pay from my employers when I take part in the PKL,” Chhillar was quoted by the Firstpost.
Randhir Singh, an experienced coach, has helped out Mohit a lot. In an interview, Mohit was quoted as “He has made us work really hard in the practice sessions in order to prepare us for the upcoming season and told us to play a confident game on the mat irrespective of what the result might be. The most important advice that he gave us is good things will happen if we would play fair and hard!”

Mohit never received any professional training at the start of his career. He only learnt by observing others. Guidance of his seniors helped him reach where he is today. Mohit wants to carry forward this tradition by guiding upcoming kabaddi players.
