The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has given its approval to the proposal of shooters Ganemat Sekhon and Gurjoat Singh under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) to train in Italy.
Ganemat, the top-ranked Indian shooter in the Women’s Skeet event, and Gurjoat will receive training in Italy under the guidance of foreign coaches Piero Genga and Ennio Falco respectively.Following her recent gold medal win in the mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, Ganemat will spend 11 days in Bari training under Italian coach Genga.
Meanwhile, Gurjoat will head to Capua for a 10-day training stint at TAV Falco. Both shooters are preparing for the upcoming ISSF World Championship and Asian Games scheduled to take place later this year.
The financial assistance provided through TOPS will cover various expenses, including coaching fees, range fees, ammunition costs, travel and lodging expenses, local transportation costs, and other necessary expenditures.
