Renowned boxing champion Mary Kom has dropped a hint about her potential comeback to the sport after a lengthy hiatus caused by injury. In an Instagram post, the 40-year-old boxer expressed gratitude to her doctor while simultaneously announcing her comeback. She wrote,
“Thank you very much Dr.Dinshaw Pardiwala for helping me in the tough times of my injury. I will be back in the ring very soon.”

Last June, during the trials for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Kom suffered an ACL injury, forcing her out of action. The injury occurred during her 48kg bout against Nitu Ghanghas, merely minutes into the fight. To aid her recovery, Kom underwent reconstructive surgery in August.
As a consequence of the injury, she was unable to participate in the Birmingham Games and subsequently withdrew from the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships held in Delhi. Notably, her absence allowed her weight class competitors, Nikhat Zareen and Nitu Ghanghas, to secure gold medals in both the CWG and the World Championships. The boxing community eagerly anticipates Mary Kom’s return and how she will fare against these emerging talents in her weight division.
