Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, the Indian mixed doubles pair, secured a spot in the semifinals of the WTT Contender tournament held in Tunis. Their next challenge awaits them in the form of the Korean pair, Shin Yubin and Lim Jonghoon, as they strive for a place in the final.

Unfortunately, both Batra and Sathiyan had previously exited the tournament in the first round of the women’s and men’s singles, respectively.

In the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals, Harmeet Desai experienced a 0-3 defeat against Liang Yanning from China. The match lasted for 20 minutes, with Desai losing with a score of 5-11, 6-11, 5-11. With this result, the Indian challenge in the men’s singles category came to an end.

Earlier in the tournament, Achanta Sarath Kamal and Sathiyan were eliminated in the first round itself. Likewise, in the women’s singles, Ayhika Mukherjee faced a similar fate with a 0-3 (5-11, 9-11, 10-12) defeat against Miyu Nagasaki from Japan in the Round of 16.

Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Diya Chitale also failed to advance beyond the first round in their respective events, marking an end to India’s campaign in the women’s singles category.
