Maharashtra Ironmen Emerge as Champions in Premier Handball League Inaugural Edition

The Maharashtra Ironmen clinched the title of the Inaugral Premier Handball League (PHL) by overpowering the Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh with a resounding 38-24 victory in the final held on Sunday.

Right from the beginning of the game, the Ironmen displayed an attacking strategy, spearheaded by their key player Igor Chiseliov. Chiseliov not only skillfully defended against challenges but also managed to find openings to score. Supported by Jalal Kiani and Sumit Ghanghas, he led the Ironmen to an 8-5 lead by the 15th minute.

Despite Omid Reza’s commendable efforts to guard the Uttar Pradesh goal, the Golden Eagles found it challenging to halt the Ironmen’s goal-scoring spree.

Naveen Deshwal, the goalkeeper for Maharashtra, exhibited why he is considered one of the league’s standout keepers. He made crucial saves that allowed his team to widen the gap. As halftime approached, the Ironmen maintained a solid 16-12 lead. The second half saw Kiani, Ankit, and Manjeet adding more goals, further extending the Ironmen’s advantage.

For his exceptional contributions, Chiseliov was honored with the “Most Valuable Player of the Game” award. Sukhveer Singh Brar of the Golden Eagles secured the coveted “Golden Ball” award for his remarkable tally of 102 goals throughout the tournament.
