Madrid Open: Rohan Bopanna & Matthew Ebden Fight Back to Reach Final in Style

On Thursday, the Indian-Australian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden made a remarkable comeback and storm into the Madrid Open final – marking their second ATP Masters 1000 final of the season. In a thrilling encounter, Bopanna and Ebden defeated the eighth-seeded team of Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 5-7, 7-6(3), 10-4.

The duo’s dominance was particularly evident in the match tie-break, where they won four of seven return points to earn their place in the final on Saturday.

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, seeded seventh, have been in exceptional form this season and are eyeing their third title (after Doha and Indian Wells). Their impressive performances have catapulted them to the top of the ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings.

The pair is now set to face the unseeded Russian duo of Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev in the final on Saturday.

Bopanna, who made history in March by becoming the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion when he and Ebden won the BNP Paribas Open.

Rohan will be eager to add another accolade to his name. With victories at the Qatar Open in February, the current number 1 in ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, Bopanna and Ebden are a force to be reckoned with.
