The ODI World Cup 2023 tickets were supposed to go on sale this week, but that wasn’t confirmed until two weeks ago after such a long wait. The BCCI has once again postponed the sale of tickets, despite the ICC having already revealed the whole itinerary for the event on June 27 and tickets might be available on sale online from next week.
The cricket match between India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Arena on October 15 is allegedly being rescheduled, which has caused a delay in the sale of tickets. According to a senior BCCI official, security organizations asked the board not to schedule the crucial match on that specific date.
The BCCI official stated to Indian Express:
“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon.”
The alteration and postponement of the World Cup 2023 schedule are attributed to the upcoming Navratri, which begins on October 15. Therefore, handling thousands of people in India vs. Pakistan match and those attending the festival in Ahmedabad won’t be a simple chore and may potentially jeopardize the security of players and spectators.
State associations hosting World Cup 2023 matches received a letter on Tuesday, July 25, from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah requesting them to a meeting on Thursday, July 27, in New Delhi. Although it cannot be guaranteed, after the meeting, an updated schedule for the IND vs PAK game and details about ticket sales will be made public.
Following the ICC’s schedule release, supporters purchased hotel and travel tickets for India’s matches. While some fans are furious at the rumor that the India vs Pakistan match may be moved, others are angry because they believe it will happen with other World Cup 2023 matches as well.
