LIV vs NEW EPL Dream11 Prediction 2019 | Liverpool vs Newcastle

It’s a case of David vs lacklustre Goliath when Newcastle United take on the mighty Liverpool on September 14. While one can brush this match off easily, it may warrant a second look, given how Newcastle upset Tottenham Hotspurs recently. Thus, the underdogs certainly do pose a threat, if not a major one, to the reigning European Champions.

Last season, Liverpool demolished Newcastle 4-0 in their first outing with ease. However, the rematch proved to be a contest with higher stakes and intensity. A victory in a must-win game for the Reds to contend with Manchester City was looking unlikely. With the score at 2-2, Divock Origi struck in the 86th minute to help his club escape by the skin of their teeth. A lot has changed since then for Newcastle. They have a better squad but have lost the stellar Rafa Benitez, with Steve Bruce succeeding him.

Liverpool are seated at the top of the table with four wins from four matches. It is, thus, a perfect record so far for the Merseyside club, and a great advantage they hold against title rivals Manchester City.  Their opponents for this week, on the other hand, have managed to record a win, a draw and two losses. While those are no impressive figures, the only win was against the aforementioned Spurs. It should therefore be an exciting game that can throw up a new revelation or two about both the sides. Compared to the story, David will have a harder time slaying this Goliath.

Dream11 Team and Analysis

Goalkeeper – In the absence of Alisson, there are no two ways about picking Adrian. Newcastle’s defence can only be described as shaky. Therefore, more points will be in the bag with Adrian as your goalkeeper, especially since Liverpool is more likely to grab a clean sheet.

Defenders Virgil van Dijk is an obvious choice, as he is as reliable and rock-solid as ever. Choosing between Liverpool’s full-backs is a toss-up, but Trent Alexander-Arnold gets the nod, having racked up more assists than Andrew Robertson. We’d also recommend Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar for being the stalwarts in an otherwise lacklustre Newcastle defence. Going with this defence can net you points for both clean sheets and upsets.

Midfielders – Not having the Egyptian Messi or the Senegalese lightning bolt may be suicidal, so Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane get the nod without a second thought. Liverpool’s attacking trident is one of the most dangerous in Europe, so expect any member to find the back of the net. Fabinho is a shoe-in for his defensive prowess and his ability to drop to any midfield position whenever required is commendable. Also, go with Isaac Hayden for his role of dictating Newcastle’s play during matches.

Forwards Roberto Firmino has in exceptional form of late, scoring a couple of goals and assists already. He can easily make it into any fantasy team. We are pairing him with Newcastle anchor and target man Joelinton who was on target against Totteham.
