Triple Century in Test Cricket: Amazing Knocks
Virender Sehwag Triple Century in Test Cricket
Virender Sehwag’s 319 vs South Africa- This was Sehwag’s second triple century, but what makes this even more special is that this is his highest score in Test Cricket, and not just that, this is the fastest triple century ever in the history of the game. He is most famous for the style of cricket that he plays, and this inning is proof of that.
Andy Sandham: First Triple Century in Test Cricket
Andy Sandham’s 325 vs West Indies- The first one is always very special, and And Sandham became the first ever to reach the landmark of 300 way back in 1930. At the age of 39 years and 275 days, Sandham is the oldest to score a Test triple ton. England is where Cricket originated and it would have been a delight for them to see an Englishman become the first to reach there.
Don Bradman Triple Century
Don Bradman’s 334 vs England- Bradman is one of the biggest names to emerge in this game, and a triple century from his bat becomes special. He became only the second player to get there just a few months after the first triple century. In a score like this, a few sixes would be expected, but that was not the case here, Bradman has only 6 sixes in his entire career.
Hanif Mohammad Triple Century
Hanif Mohammad’s 337 vs West Indies- The first half of the 20th century was highly dominated by England and Australia in Cricket. What makes this innings special is that for the first time a non-English or a non-Australian player scored a triple hundred. There were five triple hundreds before this.
Chris Gayle’s 317 vs South Africa- It was just a year after Brian Lara scored his famous 400 that Chris Gayle joined the 300 club. A player like him is considered a destructive batsman in T20, but Gayle proved why he is called the Universe Boss.
Karun Nair’s 303 vs England- In his debut series, Karun Nair became the talk of the town after he became the second Indian to score a triple ton in test cricket. Unfortunately, he could not continue his form and did not play many matches after that.
David Warner’s 335 vs Pakistan- David Warner is one of the most elegant players ever, and the effort that he puts in towards his game is commendable. He is one of the very bests to represent Australia and deserved this triple century. No one has scored a triple century after David Warner.
Brian Lara’s 400 vs England- Talking about going a step further, Lara made quite an impact in Test Cricket. He became the first batsman to get not just 300, but 400 in a single inning, and he still holds that record after 17 years. Lara recorded his second 300 plus score on this day after almost 10 years from his first one.
