Ballon d’Or 2023: Lionel Messi secured his record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or in a ceremony held in Paris on Tuesday. The prolific Argentine, who clinched the FIFA World Cup in 2022, triumphed over formidable competitors such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to seize the prestigious award for the eighth time, a remarkable feat that outshines Cristiano Ronaldo‘s five wins. Notably, the award was presented to Messi by none other than football legend David Beckham, who also happens to be the owner of Messi’s current club, Inter Miami.
