Yadav became famous during his lower-level cricket years when he hit six sixes in six balls in an over in the DDCA T20  tournament which was held at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

He did it again in a sporting club match against Najafgarh Sports Complex. Lalit Yadav ended up scoring a century in that match. He scored an explosive 130 made from only 46 balls. His fiery innings contained 13 sixes and 9 fours. His innings turned the entire match one-sided as his team ended up making a gigantic score and got the opposition all out for merely 75 runs.

Lalit was a big fan of the famous Indian explosive opener Virender Sehwag and seeing him practice motivated Lalit to chase his dream of becoming a professional cricketer.

Yadav was bought by the Delhi Capitals for the Indian Premier League 2020 ahead of the 2020 Auction

Before IPL, Lalit had said that it would be beneficial for the IPL debutants that there is no audience in the stadium as it would lead to less pressure.

Lalit was part of a group including Rishabh Pant, Mohit Sharma, and Ishant Sharma who practiced at a farmhouse before the 2020 IPL began. They were all players of the Delhi Capitals.
