Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffer a big blow as skipper KL Rahul likely to be ruled out of IPL 2023 campaign due to a thigh injury. The 31-year-old injured his right leg while chasing the ball during the team’s loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Ekana Stadium on Monday. Rahul is expected to undergo scans on Thursday in Mumbai to determine the extent of the injury. According to a report, the Indian batsman is in a ‘race against time’ to be fit for the World Test Championship final against Australia in London, which begins on June 7.
Furthermore, another key player, Jaydev Unadkat, will also miss the remaining matches of the IPL 2023. It is reported that no scans have been done so far as the swelling needs to subside first. LSG will have to rely on Krunal Pandya to lead the team in Rahul’s absence, starting with their clash against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.
The absence of Rahul, who has scored 327 runs in eight matches, will be a big blow for Lucknow as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs. His leadership skills and experience will be missed in the dressing room, while his absence in the batting order will be a huge loss.
