The next edition of Khelo India Games will be held in Karnataka, said Narayana Gowda, Minister of sports and youth affairs, Karnataka on Tuesday at Moodbidri. Khelo India is an initiative taken by the government to improve the level of sport in the country. This program will help to improve the level of sport from the grassroots level.

“Karnataka and the central government will grant Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 6 lakhs for those who support the sports respectively, he said. As many as 75 sports students are being groomed in the state to take part in the next Olympics. The next Khelo India will be held in Karnataka under the patronage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, the minister said.
“The government is committed to promoting sports in Karnataka. In all the departments, 2% of job opportunities will be given to sportspersons and they will get 50% of reservation in the departments related to sports”. The minister said this after the inauguration of the 81st All India-University Athletics Championship.
Umanath Kotian, received the torch while the Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University lead the inaugural program of the championship.
V Sunil Kumar, Member of Legislative Assembly of Karnataka headed the sports and cultural march past at the championship.

Adesh Yadav was awarded Rs 25,000 while Arif Ali Rs 15,000 and Ram Vinod Yadav Rs 10,000 were awarded for creating new records in 10,000 meters.-- Advertisement --
Adesh also set a record at the recently conducted 41st Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate athletics meet. He set the record for a 10,000-meter race in 30:09:6.
Alva’s Education Foundation sponsored the award prize for the winners. M R Poovamma (Olympian) was congratulated on the occasion.
A crowd of 150 troupes represented the diverse culture of India at 81st All India Inter-University Athletics.
This championship was combinedly organized by Mangalore University and Alva’s College.
