IPL 2022 winner, Gujarat Titans have suffered a major blow as Kane Williamson got injured and has been ruled out of IPL 2023, according to a Times Now report. New Zealand cricketer, Kane Williamson suffered a knee injury in the opening match of IPL 2023 against CSK on Friday.
Attempting to save a six-hit by CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad during his 50-ball, 92-run innings, Kane Williamson injured his right knee and left the cricket field in pain, after which he did not participate further in the match. He was later replaced by Sai Sudarshan through the impact player rule during Gujarat Titans’ batting.

Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya talked about Kane Williamson’s knee injury:
“I just messaged him and I don’t know about the update. He has gone for the scans. So, once he comes back after the scans and the doctors checks, then exactly we will be able to know what exactly it is. It is knee for sure, but I don’t know how serious it is or how much time it will take,” Hardik said in the post-match press conference.
The Titans started their IPL 2023 campaign on a winning note by defeating CSK by five wickets. Last season, Kane Williamson captained Sunrisers Hyderabad, and was bought by Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 auction for the base price of ₹2 crore.
