Jyothi Yarraji Heads Indian Contingent at Asian Indoor Athletics C’ships

Jyothi Yarraji and Tajinder Pal Singh Toor have been chosen to lead the 15-member Indian athletics team at the upcoming Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024, set to commence on February 21st in Tehran, Iran. The announcement of the team was made by the Athletics Federation of India via the social media platform X. The team includes the seasoned athlete and defending Shot Put champion, Tajinder Pal Singh Toor, who secured the sole gold medal for India in the previous edition of the tournament. Jyothi Yarraji and Pavithra Venkatesh aim to upgrade their silver medals to gold in the 60m hurdles and Pole Vault events, respectively.

Among the participants are Asian Games medalists Harmilan Bains (1500m), Ajay Kumar Saroj (1500m), and Gulveer Singh (3000m). Nayana James and Shaili Singh are set to represent India in the long jump event. In the previous event, India clinched a total of eight medals, comprising one gold, six silver, and one bronze. India secured the sixth position in the overall medal tally.
