Meanwhile, HS Prannoy showcased his prowess by defeating fellow Indian player Srikanth Kidambi 19-21, 21-9, 21-9, securing his place in the quarters of Japan Open at the expense of the experienced 30-year-old Indian shuttle stalwart.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the second round of the Japan Open, while PV Sindhu was eliminated in the opening round. PV Sindhu, who has won two Olympic medals, fell to Zhang Yi Man of China in straight games on Wednesday in the opening match of the Japan Open at the Yoyogi National Gym in Tokyo.
