ISSF World Cup: Indian duo Sarabjot Singh and TS Divya clinch gold in mixed team 10m air pistol event

Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and TS Divya clinched the gold medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event at the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday. The Indian pair, who had topped the qualification round with a score of 581, beat the Serbian duo of Damir Mikec and Zorana Arunovic 16-14 in a tight final. Sarabjot scored 293 in the qualification, while Divya scored 288.

In the final, the Indian duo won the first two rounds, putting the experienced Serbian team under pressure. The Serbian pair, however, bounced back and both teams were tied 14-14. In the final round of shots, Sarabjot fired a 10.6 and Divya scored 9.9, while Damir and Zorana shot 10.3 and 8.6, respectively.

Sarabjot has been in fine form this season, having already won gold at the World Cup in Bhopal. This was Divya’s first ISSF World Cup medal, and the duo were competing in the mixed team event for the third time.

India’s second pair of Esha Singh and Varun Tomar shot a combined 578 in the qualification round and finished fifth overall. This was India’s second medal in the event, after Rhythm Sangwan initiated with a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol on Wednesday.
