ISL 2018 Update: FC Goa Beat FC Pune City in A High-Scoring Match; Tops the League Standings

In a high scoring game on Sunday, Football Club Goa reigned over Football Club Pune City by 4-2. With this FC Goa is back again topping the charts in the Indian Super League football standings.

Ferran Corominas scored two goals (5th and 35th) along with one goal each from Hugo Boumous and Jackichand Singh, thus leading the host team towards a spectacular win. Goals from Marcelinho and Emiliano Alfaro couldn’t prove sufficient for FC Pune City.

Surprisingly, this match witnessed six goals getting scored in the first 35 minutes. Also, Diego Carlos and Corominas were shown red cards and were sent off, thus both teams playing with just 10 men towards the end of the game.

A tough game was already predicted for FC Pune City as they were to play against the in-form FC Goa. The FC Goa continued their winning streak over FC Mumbai City and now Pune City.

Corominas gave his team a good early start by striking a goal in the fifth minute of the game. FC Pune City didn’t lag behind and made it equal with a brilliant goal at top right-hand corner.

FC Goa took no time in making a lead again as Corominas made a well-worked move. Yet again, after a few minutes, Coro sprung the off-side trap thus laying the ball for Jackichand who smashed the ball into an empty net.

This basically looked like a game of some weak defences by FC Pune City.

While the first phase of the scheduled game saw attacks from both sides thrive as chances kept coming, but then it was team Goa who just kept on extending this lead. The second half started frantically as Alfaro and Marko Stankovic came close to reducing Pune’s arrears in various instances.

FC Goa throughout kept frustrating the visitor team by keeping a strong hold on the ball which kept the FC Pune City starved from the goals.

Both the host and visitor team finished the game with 10 men after Diego Carlos and Corominas were shown a red card.

FC Pune City has decided to part ways with coach Miguel Angel Portugal as they have managed to score just once in three games. Pradyum Reddy has been appointed as an interim coach of the team.

FC Goa has been giving some outstanding performance at the upfront. They are expected to continue their thump as they again win over FC Pune City.
