The League Shield winners of the 2021-22 edition, Jamshedpur FC held the record so far. The Red Miners had gone on a winning spree that spanned seven matches. The winning streak was terminated at the hands of Kerala Blasters in their 0-1 defeat in last year’s semi-final first leg.
Mumbai City FC smashed Ivan Vukomanovic’s men in a display of compact and direct football, which meant Des Buckingham’s men were the new holders of the record. In their last victory over Odisha FC, Mumbai had equaled Jamshedpur’s record. Moreover, with their win against Kerala Blasters on Sunday, Mumbai FC surpassed Jamshedpur to script a new record.
Mumbai City winger Bipin Singh curled one into the top corner and scored a scrumptious header to seal the victory. Moreover, the table toppers have been unbeaten since the beginning of the season. This includes ten wins and three draws out of 13 games. Currently, Mumbai City has regained the top spot with 33 points, followed by Hyderabad FC right at their heels in second place, with 31 points. Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters stay put in third place with 25 points.
