India has announced Ishan Kishan as the replacement for KL Rahul, who has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 Final due to a thigh injury. Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batter, will replace KL Rahul in the squad for the much-awaited clash against Australia at the Oval in June.

Rahul sustained the injury while fielding in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rahul will undergo surgery, and won’t be available for the final.

India’s woes don’t end there as two pacers, Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, are also under medical observation. Unadkat hurt his left shoulder during the IPL nets and is undergoing strength and rehab sessions, with his participation in the WTC 2023 final doubtful. Yadav suffered a minor left hamstring injury during the IPL and is under medical observation.
