It’s raining cricket movies this year (which ironically is 2020!). After ‘83 and Mithali Raj’s biopic starring Tapsee Pannu, the Bollywood fraternity might well be coming up with yet another cricket film.
If sources are to be believed, actress Anushka Sharma will reportedly be essaying the role of one of India’s best fast bowlers of all time, Jhulan Goswami, in an upcoming biopic.
The reports were further backed by the pictures of the actress walking beside Goswami at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, intensifying the speculation.
While some argue that the duo was only filming an advertisement, others have suggested that they are indeed working on a promo shoot for the film.
The visuals depict Anushka donning an older version of the India Women’s cricket team jersey. Goswami, on the other hand, is seen wearing a pair of jeans and a dark sports jacket. The film crew can also be spotted around them.
According to a person present on the sets, Anushka tried to perfect Goswami’s gait, besides her warm-up style and bowling action.
If reports by Bollywood Hungama are to be believed, Anushka shot until 4 pm and is expected to shoot for another portion later on January 25.
Known for her lanky frame, Goswami was 2007’s ICC Women’s Player of the Year.
Anushka has chosen to have a low profile for over a year after the box office and critical disaster Zero.
Although she is working on a handful of projects in different stages of production as a producer, Sharma has been making frequent headlines owing to her routine trips with husband and India Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli.
However, speaking about the absence of acting projects, Anushka had said, “I think I have reached that position and security as an actor in my career, where I don’t need to do things or sign films just because I have to fill up time.”
