It was confirmed by a senior BCCI official that &#8220;it does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war.&#8221;

The BCCI convened an emergency meeting with officials to suspend the 2025 IPL. The decision was taken chiefly because of security concerns.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_of_Control_for_Cricket_in_India"> Arun Dhumal</a>, the league chairman, was initially going ahead with the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, the deteriorating security situation eventually led to the match being canceled.
The BCCI has announced that the suspension stands &#8220;until further notice.&#8221; It is coordinating with the authorities and awaiting further official directions. This suspension casts a shadow of uncertainty over the tournament schedule. The tournament was to end in Kolkata on May 25.
Cricket Australia is keeping abreast of the situation and maintaining communication with its members of staff in India. Overseas players had expressed their concern because of the tension prevailing between India and Pakistan. The suspension will enable them to get back to their countries. BCCI puts their safety and security as its priority for everybody involved.
