A weather-abandoned game against Delhi Capitals (DC) officially ended Sunrisers Hyderabad&#8217;s (SRH) hopes for the IPL 2025 playoffs. No result, weather spoilage bars SRH from staying in the top-four race, the third team to bow out after <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ipl-2025-srh-defeat-csk-in-chennai-climb-to-eighth-place">CSK</a> and <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ipl-2025-riyan-parags-95-in-vain-as-kkr-beat-rr">RR</a>. Orange Army, already in an almost hopeless position, had to win the game just to remain alive in the realm of possibilities for them, but the washout snatched away their last fighting chance and condemned them to full expulsion this year.
DC has lost a crucial point in a match against <a href="https://www.iplt20.com/teams/gujarat-titans">GT</a>, despite sharing points with both sides. Despite not immediately breaking into the top four, DC currently sits at fifth with 13 points from 11 games, one point behind GT. Rain delayed the match, but the weather played a role.

The weather intervened early on; the first innings seemed to be tilting in SRH&#8217;s favour. After <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Cummins">Pat Cummins</a> found two in his first over, suddenly looking like a fiery spell, Dad had fallen quickly to three in quick succession. Cummins&#8217; bowling incisions dashed SRH completely by the end of the first innings. The bowlers then managed to keep DC to a manageable total, so the chase looked pretty straightforward.
The cataloging situation deteriorated rapidly as rain poured down just after the DC&#8217;s innings. Even as attempts were made to see some play, the weather refused to clear; the match was, therefore, called off. This washout denied SRH the opportunity to chase a very modest total, keeping their playoff hopes alive. An unfortunate end to a grand affair, which had much going in SRH&#8217;s favour so far.
With only three more games to be played, SRH can accumulate a max of 13 points, which is not enough to go into the playoffs, as four teams have 14 or more points currently. DC is still holding on to a faint hope to go through, but the challenge is great with only a few games remaining, and the competition is stiff.
