It’s a great chance for them to get a direct shot at the finals. Now, we&#8217;ll just have to wait for the match on Tuesday between <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ipl-2025-rcb-slip-after-srh-defeat-jitesh-sharma-remains-optimistic">Royal Challengers Bengaluru</a> (RCB) and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucknow_Super_Giants">Lucknow Super Giants</a> (LSG) to see who they’ll face in that important game on May 29.
MI struggled to match PBKS&#8217; strength, finishing fourth in the league stage and facing the Eliminator on May 30. <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/suryakumar-yadav-biography">Suryakumar Yadav</a> scored 57 runs, his 14th in T20s, but the team&#8217;s chase didn&#8217;t have the expected late surge, resulting in only 53 runs in the last five overs, leaving them 15-20 runs short on a good batting track.

They combined to score 109 runs for the second wicket, with both players hitting half-centuries that shifted the momentum firmly in Punjab&#8217;s favor and away from MI. Their calculated yet aggressive batting style turned what might have been a nail-biter into a straightforward win. Inglis played some impressive shots, while Arya remained calm, ensuring there were no bumps along the way.
For MI, this loss highlighted a heavy dependence on their top-order batsmen. Their failure to break key partnerships became a major drawback. Even though they had moments where they looked in control with the ball, they didn’t quite have the sharpness to defend a decent score. Their fielding didn’t help matters either, allowing Punjab to take charge throughout the innings.
Looking ahead, the playoff situation is now dependent on the upcoming match on Tuesday. If RCB beats LSG, they&#8217;ll face PBKS in Qualifier 1. But if RCB loses, they&#8217;ll go against MI in a knockout game on May 30.
