The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are facing a tough challenge just as they gear up for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Unfortunately, a back injury has kept their promising young fast bowler, <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/mayank-yadav-stats">Mayank Yadav</a>, from playing the rest of the season. This news came out in a press release from the IPL on May 15. To fill the gap left by Yadav, LSG has brought in New Zealand bowler <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_O'Rourke_(cricketer)">William O’Rourke</a> for ₹3 crore. Mayank had previously missed the beginning of the season and has only played in two matches this year, taking two wickets but struggling a bit, giving away runs at an economy rate of 12.50.
On the other side, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) are also dealing with injury woes. Their fast bowler, Lockie Ferguson, is out with a hamstring injury. He got hurt during a match against the <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ipl-2025-rain-washes-out-srh-vs-dc-seals-srhs-elimination">Sunrisers Hyderabad</a> on April 12, after bowling just two balls. This season, Ferguson played four games and took five wickets. In response, PBKS has signed another New Zealand pacer, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Jamieson">Kyle Jamieson</a>, to step in for Ferguson.

The Gujarat Titans (GT) are making a significant change to their team, but for a different reason than some other clubs. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos_Buttler">Jos Buttler,</a> the English opener, will be leaving the team after their last league game to join the England squad for their series against the West Indies, which starts on May 29. As directed by the England and Wales Cricket Board, players involved in white-ball cricket are focusing on their national duties.
GT’s final league match is against the <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ayush-mhatre-biography-csk-cricketer-career-and-stats">Chennai Super Kings</a> in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 25. Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis is joining the team for ₹75 lakhs to fill Buttler&#8217;s spot, and he’s expected to bat at the top of the order to help GT keep their momentum as they head into the playoffs.
On another note, IPL 2025 will kick off again after a nine-day break on Saturday, May 17. The first game after the break will feature the <a href="https://www.kreedon.com/ipl-2025-rcb-beats-rr-in-thriller-to-climb-to-third-place-in-points-table">Royal Challengers Bengaluru</a> (RCB) facing off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M.
