IPL 2022 UPDATE, The Indian Premier League will begin on March 26. The decision was taken at a meeting of the IPL Governing Council (GC) on Thursday evening.
IPL chairman, Brijesh Patel said this year’s tournament would start in Mumbai on March 26 and end on May 29.
This year, two more teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, have paved their way into the IPL. So, there would be a total of 74 matches.
Around 40 percent of the crowd will be allowed in the stadium at the start of the tournament.
“Spectators will be permitted according to rules set by the Maharashtra government and in the first place, it will be 40%. Assuming the Covid circumstance remains under control and cases decrease, it might be a full house at the business end,”
The 10 -team IPL edition will have 70 league matches. The league stage of the Indian Premier League will be played on 4 venues in Mumbai and Pune.
The final match and the playoffs are scheduled in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 29.
Mumbai’s Wankhade and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil are scheduled to host 20-20 matches each. While 15 each will be hosted at Gahunje Stadium in Pune and Brabourne Stadium of Mumbai.

A total of 10 teams and 204 players who are picked in the auction are going to show their talent in the upcoming IPL edition.
