The 14th season of the Indian Premier League or the IPL 2021, is all set to kick-start from the 9th of April. Previously, the 13th edition of IPL was played and organized in the U.A.E due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The season was won by Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, a franchise of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. In the 14th season, all the franchises have new IPL 2021 teams in the race to win the title.

Last year, the teams and players witnessed a totally different atmosphere. The teams and players were well aware and habitual of Indian conditions. The unfamiliar conditions of the UAE made the difference. Along with it, the hot weather and less known pitch conditions made it difficult for younger players to perform to their optimum level. Despite the fact, the team of Mumbai Indians won their 5th IPL title in the year 2020. Now, the stage is all set for the IPL 2021. This year the tournament will be played in India, but only at 6 venues. BCCI is confident to organize a successful and safe cricketing atmosphere for players and spectators.

Kolkata Knight Riders: IPL 2021 Teams

One of the most loved cricketers of India, Dinesh Karthik was under heavy criticism as the KKR side got off to a poor start in IPL 2020. To focus much on his batting, and for the betterment of the team, DK informed the KKR management about his decision to step down as IPL captain midway through the tournament. England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan was chosen as the new captain of the team KKR. The entire team and the team management relied heavily upon two West Indies stars – Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. But unfortunately both the all-rounders struggled to perform in the UAE. KKR failed to qualify for the play-offs in IPL 2020.

Punjab Kings: IPL 2021 Teams

The year 2020 was the debut for KL Rahul as a captain for KXIP. But it wasn’t a memorable one. The team managed to win just one of the first six matches. Chris Gayle’s injury cost a very heavy price to the Punjab side. The Punjab side was one of the best sides on paper, yet the team struggled in UAE and finished at the sixth spot in the points table. The side could win only six out of 14 matches played. With a new name in IPL 2021- Punjab Kings (earlier Kings 11 Punjab) will be looking forward to forgetting the past and have a fresh start in the 2021 season.

Rajasthan Royals

The team of Rajasthan Royal possibly had one of the best groups of overseas players. Players like Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer made the 2020 squad of R.R a tough team to compete with. But the fact is, the team finished at the bottom of the points table. Steve Smith and Sanju Samson scored plenty of runs in the first two games played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. But both failed to keep the momentum in the rest of the tournament. In the upcoming season, Sanju Samson will lead the one-time champions (2008) R.R. The team Royals will hope for better performance in IPL 2021.

The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore finished at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2018 as well as IPL 2019. But the IPL of 2020 was a much better season for the entire squad. Kohli and his team showed a much better performance in UAE. The team reached the playoffs. A star performer unearthed- Devdutt Padikkal –was one of the most consistent performers in IPL 2020 for his team. However, at the end of the tournament, RCB yet again failed to reach the semi-finals.
