RR VS KXIP, IPL 2021, Match 4: Chasing a mammoth total of 222, Sanju Samson (Captain RR, 119 0ff 63) led the run chase from the front. He became the first player to score a century on IPL debut, as a captain. But unfortunately, even after a terrific batting performance, Samson could not finish the match on a winning note for his team. Punjab Kings won the match in a close battle by four runs on Monday at Wankhade. PBKS bowler, Arshdeep Singh defended 13 runs in the final over. The young boy showed quality bowling during the match. It helped his side finish the match on a positive end.

PKBS Innings –RR vs KXIP
Earlier Samson won the toss and decided to field first. The decision did not work in RR’s favor. Batting magnificent, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda helped Punjab Kings post a huge total of 221/6. Another debutant, Chetan Sakariya showed some class bowling, he got the wicket of Mayank Agarwal in powerplay overs, followed by captain KL Rahul(91) and Jhye Richardson. Gayle got out to R. Parag for 40. Promoting Deepak Hooda ahead of Nicholas Pooran worked in PBKS’s favor.

Hooda was simply unstoppable in the middle overs. His knock of 64 off just 28 deliveries played a huge part in PKBS’s victory. Hooda reached his half-century in just 20 balls and scored his best IPL figures. For RR, Sakariya proved to be the main bowler. He took three wickets for 31 runs in four overs.
