Sunrisers Hyderabad bolstered their chances of a top 4 finish by defeating fellow playoff race competitor Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs. Playing on his last day before departing for international duties, David Warner scored a brilliant 81 off just 56 balls to help SRH reach the massive total of 212/6.
The bowlers, led by Rashid Khan (3/21) and Khaleel Ahmed (3/40) , then restrict the visitor’s for 167/8. KL Rahul’s knock of 59-runs went in vain as SRH won their last home game of the campaign. Even though they are two points clear of the fifth placed Kolkata Knight Riders, SRH will still face a challenge to stay in the top 4.
They will have to win at least one of the last two matches, which may not be as an easy task especially since both are away fixtures. More importantly, the league’s best performing batsman, David Warner would not be around in this crucial phase.
Here is how the Twitter bid adieu to the Australian opener:
A year ago this man was in tears, guilt ridden but today his passion for the game and acknowledging he went astray has put him as the most happiest man in the world after this stellar comeback!— Anjana (@anjanaann) April 29, 2019
SRH’s tagline can be modified for DW – rise with Warner ??#DavidWarner #SRHvKXIP
