Not only that, he also became the first bowler from Karnataka to achieve the feat. This was 2019 IPL’s second hat-trick
With his maiden hat trick, he became the second bowler to take a hat-trick this season after Sam Curran. Kohli played his best against Gopal in the second over as he hit a six. After a couple of next balls, Kohli tried to hit a six but mishit the bowl to the fielder Liam Livingstone at long-on, who took a comfortable catch. Gopal dismissed Kohli for the second time in this season.
On the very next ball, AB De Villiers was caught by Riyan Parag and successively Marcus Stoinis was caught on a duck by Steve Smith.
Gopal became the fourth Rajasthan Royals bowler to bag a hat-trick in the IPL.
After Gopal’s hat-trick, the hosts lost 4 wickets inside 26 runs to be restricted on 62/7 in five overs. With Gopal picking up three wickets, Oshane Thomas bagged another couple of wickets for the Royals.
However, the rain spoiled the game as the match was called off with the two teams getting 1 point each. With no result, RCB are now officially out of IPL 2019. RR’s playoff chances still hang by a thread.
The first hat trick of the season is bagged by Kings XI Punjab’s Sam Curran’s. He took a crucial hat trick in the 20th-over against Delhi Capitals at PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali turning the match and leading his team to an unexpected win.
Also, Gopal’s hat-trick is the 19th in IPL history. He finished his one-over quota with figures of three for 12.
