The Match 27 of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 will see Mumbai Indians welcome the seventh-placed Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium. Although Mumbai Indians started the campaign on a nervy note, they have been unbeaten in the last three matches. As a result, they now placed at the third position.
In stark contrast, RR have lost five of their last six matches. The solitary victory came against a fellow struggling team, RCB. If they still have the ambition to make it to the Playoffs, the Royals will have to win 8 of their remaining matches, preferably with big margins.

MI vs RR Preview
Mumbai Indians have been on a roll after the epic win against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. They then defeated last year’s runner ups Sunrisers Hyderabad followed by a stunning 3 wicket victory over KXIP. The last win also saw them move up to the third position in the league table.
The win was monumental considering that it had been earned without skipper Rohit Sharma present in the dugout. The experienced Kieron Pollard, who had been out-of-form for the most part of the season, led from the front and scored a blazing 83 off just 31 deliveries to help MI win against the Kings. His form will be crucial in the upcoming matches.
It doesn’t just seem to be the year for Rajasthan Royals. Whatever they do, however good they play, it feels that destiny is against them this season. They have been in dominating positions against KXIP (when the infamous ‘Mankading’ took place), SRH (where they scored a massive 198 only to fail to defend it), CSK (where they lost by only 8 runs) and another reverse fixture against the defending champions.
Having reduced CSK to 24/4 in the last match, RR was poised to win the match easily. But their inability to dismiss MS Dhoni proved to be costly.
Great catching by Rajasthan tonite, Stokes and Gopal taking two of the best this IPL. But not such great bowling allowing CSK to recover from near hopeless position to possibly a winning one. All eyes on Dhoni!

That is exactly where their problems lie – garnering wickets. Baring Jofra Archer (and Ben Stokes, to a certain extent), they seriously lack a quality, experienced pace. Dhawal Kulkarni has been moderately effective but of no match to the opposition bowlers. Their costliest purchase, Jaydev Unadkat, has anything but able to justify his hefty price tag. Although Shreyas Gopal has shown signs of brilliance, he still remains a work in progress. The absence of a specialist spinner is also hurting them dearly.
Bowling is, then, Rajasthan Royals biggest shortcoming this year. If they are to win matches, they will have to upscale in this particular department.
Going by the two team’s form and Wankhede Stadium’s pitch conditions, it will be a 140-160 run (per side) match. Thus choose up to 4 batsmen. Pacers are expected to receive a major boost in the swing department with winds up to 26 kmph being forecasted. Thus, choosing at least Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff, and Joseph Alzarri is recommended. Hardik Pandya and Ben Stokes will be recommended in the all-rounding section.
