Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered their seventh defeat of the 2019 Indian Premier League season at the hands of Mumbai Indians who won by 5 wickets. Having asked to bat first, RCB reached the modest total of 171/7 with AB de Villiers hitting a 75 run-knock. Nonetheless, the total was always going to tough to defend considering the dew conditions that would make bowling less effective in the second innings.
That is exactly what happened as the RCB bowlers failed to scalp wickets at crucial junctures of time. While in-form Quinton de Kock started the chase with an important knock of 40 runs, it was Hardik Pandya who put the finishing touches to the hosts innings by scoring 37 runs from only 16 balls. Even though the victory took MI the third spot in the league table, the result put RCB’s season to another low.
