The Match 28 of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 will see Kings XI Punjab welcome Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mohali. With four wins from seven matches, KXIP remains strong in the race for playoffs.
After having lost against Mumbai Indians off the last ball, they will look to get things straight against RCB. For Bangalore, the season may well be over before reaching even the halfway mark, having lost all the 6 opening matches. They will mostly be playing for pride on Saturday.

KXIP vs RCB Preview
Kings XI Punjab started the season with a bang, winning three of their opening four matches. However, their performance against teams like CSK and recently against MI demonstrated that they lacked the edge to beat IPL big three this season (KKR being the third team).
They didn’t do much wrong against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede. In fact, for the better part of the second innings, they were favoured over the hosts to pocket the contest.

However, they fell one bowler short of winning the contest. A leaky bowler like Ankit Rajpoot (who conceded a massive 52 runs in that match) was simply was suited to execute the tense death over. With 14 needed off the last 6 balls, he gave away 7 runs in the first ball (a no ball). As if that wasn’t enough, Rajpoot conceded a boundary in the very next delivery.
Although he must be credited for dismissing the dangerous Kieron Pollard, it was too late by that time, the damage had already been done. Although it will be easy against RCB, they will have to better get their bowling straight before bigger contests arrive.
As for RCB, it is nothing but the end for the 2019 season. They have continuously fallen short in all departments. The franchise’s tactics in the transfer window (releasing Sarfaraz Khan, trading Mandeep Singh) as well as in the IPL auction (bringing in Shimron Hetmyer and Shivam Dube for a combined ₹ 9.2 crores) have clearly failed.
Instead of crying over spilt milk, the Challengers can simply start preparing for the next season. They have invested heavily in the youngsters like Devdutt Padikkal, Himmat Singh and Prayas Ray Barman and this is the best time to give them exposure.
Predicted Winner
No surprises here. KXIP have the squad balance, home advantage, and the all-important reason to win this contest.
Dream11 Hint
Going by the last three matches played at the Mohali Stadium, the contest is expected to have a moderate score with plenty of wickets. It thus makes sense to choose up to 4 batsmen along with 4 bowlers. It is recommended to choose pacers over spinners.
