The Match 55 of the VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 will see Kings XI Punjab welcome Chennai Super Kings at Mohali. KXIP’s chances of making it to the playoffs were marred by a 7-wicket defeat against KKR. Although mathematically they are not out of the top-4 race, but qualification isn’t in their hands either. They will have to win by big margin on Sunday and hope that SRH, KKR, and RR lose their respective games. This will be easier said than done, since in the opposition are the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

KXIP vs CSK Dream11 Preview
Kings XI Punjab started the campaign on an impressive note, going as high as third for better part of the season’s first half. However, a series of inconsistent performances in the second saw them slip lower and behind the pecking order. They have struggled with the ball and there seems dearth of a leader in the batting line up. Although they may still garner hopes of somehow going into the playoffs, it may just be a bit late for that.
Sadly, the second half slide means #KingsXI are out. At various stages in the #IPL I thought they played better than the squad looked. Will need to be good in the auction this time.

As things stand at the moment, three teams – SRH (12), KKR (12), RR (11) – have more points than Kings XI Punjab (10). They will have to not only win their last game but also hope that the three lose their respective games. Their dismal NRR of -0.351 makes thing even more complicated. Compare that to SRH’s +0.653 and it will take no less than a miracle for Kings XI Punjab to make it to the playoffs.
As for Chennai Super Kings, this will be a good opportunity to fine tune their squads before the all-important Qualifiers. The bowling has been impressive with Imran Tahir, Deepak Chahar, and Harbhajan Singh all proving their worth. However, what indeed needs a bit calibration is their batting attack. Shane Watson’s form has been going up and down while Kedar Jadhav has struggled to garner runs this year. CSK will be looking to get things straight in time there.
Predicted Winner
However, desperate KXIP is to win this match, CSK have the temperament and edge to clinch this particular encounter.
Dream11 Hint
PCA Stadium will have plenty of runs, and wickets. Thus, choosing a balanced squad (4 batsmen, 2 all-rounders, 4 bowlers) makes sense. Try to have a mix of spinners and pacers. Openers will have a huge role to play with spinners not around at the start. Choosing a couple of them would be a smart move.
