DC vs KXIP Dream11 Prediction
Delhi Capitals‘ dream run in the 2019 IPL was cut short by a disappointing 40-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians. That marked DC’s third home defeat in four matches. Unsurprisingly, all the focus went back towards the infamous Kotla pitch.
The Feroz Shah Kotla stadium has never really been a desirable venue for the home team to play at, right from season one . Traditionally, the likes Morne Morkel, Ajit Agarkar, Varun Aaron, Ashok Dinda, and Umesh Yadav among others have struggled to perform well here. This season was no different. After the team’s defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this month, head coach had lashed out at the groundsmen for providing the worst-ever pitch, before again underlining the slow nature of the pitch.
The difference between DC n qualifying for playoffs can be these pathetic Kotla pitches .terrible #DCvMI

“I think it is fair to say that the wicket surprised us a lot. Talking to the groundsmen before the match, we thought this would be the best pitch that we had by far but it was the worst. You saw how little it bounced and how slow it was,” he expressed after the match.
The unpredictable nature again failed the team, this time against MI. While Rohit Sharma cleverly read the pitch conditions and fielded to specialist bowlers – Jayant Jadhav and Rahul Chahar. The latter went on to scalp three wickets. On the other hand, DC played only one spinner – Amit Mishra (who didn’t even get to bowl complete 4 overs) and conspicuously left Sandeep Lamichhane out. And they paid the price for it. On Saturday, along with KXIP, DC will have to fight against the ever-surprising Kotla pitch as well.
Whatever be the case, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin is sure to relish this opportunity. The veteran spinner has excellently guided the team to the 4th spot in the league table with limited resources. He will be confident of exploiting the slow nature of the Kotla pitch. Nonetheless, the KXIP franchise will be hoping that Mujeeb Ur Rahman makes it to the starting XI. The Afghan spinner had been injured in the game against the Rajasthan Royals. If manage to win in Delhi, they will move to the third spot.
Although Delhi Capitals are a better side on paper, their woes at Kotla and KXIP’s excellence in bowling (spin in particular) makes them better placed to win the contest. We, thus, put our money on Kings XI Punjab.
As Delhi Capital’s bowling coach Samuel Badree rightfully pointed out, spinners will have a crucial role to play in Saturday’s match considering the slow nature of Kotla. Thus, choose as many as you can. Amongst the batsman, try choosing the ones who can stick to crease and play well against spin, such as KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan. As was evident in the match between DC and MI, the middle order batsmen are bound to struggle as this is when spinners come out. Thus, choosing batsman who either open or come towards the end of innings.
