“CSK without MSD is like Maggi without Masala!” Fans React as MI Beat CSK

Two days after they confirmed their place in the playoffs of the 2019 Indian Premier League season, Chennai Super Kings stumbled to yet another defeat in the absence of MS Dhoni (who missed the match owing to a back issue). Mumbai Indians, a team who had earlier humbled the defending champions at the Wankhede stadium, were at it again as they won by a comfortable 46 runs. This was MI’s 15th victory over their fierce rivals, almost double than any other team.

Nothing went according the home team’s plan. First they lost MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja before the match could begin. It then felt that incumbent skipper, Suresh Raina had taken the wrong decision of batting first. May be he had expected the dew to make life difficult for the bowlers in the second innings, but the wetness was never there. In fact, the conditions seemed to become more favourable for the bowlers as the innings wore off.

A common theme among Chennai Super Kings’ 4 defeats this season has been the capitulation of the middle-order. Shane Watson (7), Suresh Raina (2), and Ambati Rayudu (0) were dismissed early as CSK wrapped up for a mere 109 runs. They would like to rectify this disappointing trend with the playoffs fast approaching. Talking about playoffs, Mumbai Indians took another strong step towards ensuring a top 4 finish. They are now placed second in the league table and are two points clear of the fifth placed KXIP.

Nonetheless, the fans went bonkers over CSK’s dismal performance in the absence of the beloved MSD. Here is how they reacted:
